Universal Genève Polerouter Sub 869109/01

Beautiful design - unpolished case - great condition

Description
The first Polerouter was published in 1954 to make polar flights between Los Angeles, New York City and Europe more popular. Since flights over the North Pole in the past meant that watches couldn’t correctly display the time on those flights, the Polerouter was designed to be extremely resistant to magnetic fields for accuracy during flight.

The Universal Genève Polerouter Sub (MK2) offered here is in a very good overall condition. The dial of the Polerouter Sub is almost in mint condition and has a date window at 3 o'clock. The dial is especially beautiful due the stylish Arabic numerals (3, 6, and 12) printed on a white trapezoidal background. The original lume in the skeletal hands, as well as in the dot on the rotating bezel is completely present and shines perfectly under UV light. The lume in the dots on the dial is almost completely present. The symmetrical stainless steel case is in excellent and unpolished condition and has sharp edges. The bezel can easily be rotated in both directions. It is 100% original and has some light scratches that make this watch lively and absolutely honest. The original Universal Geneve crown is signed with the "U" of the manufacturer. The automatic movement caliber 69 with microrotor is in very good condition. The serial- and reference number is clearly visible on the screwed down caseback. Most numbers on Polerouter Sub models from this period are barely or not visible at all.

The Polerouter Sub with its beautiful design has aged evenly over the years and therefore became a sought after collector's item.
