Description
Here we offer you another vintage Universal Genève Space Compax in excellent condition. This is the MK2 version with the reference 885104/02 from 1966. Although the Space Compax was originally designed as a diver's watch, the name "Space Compax" was created due to the fascination for space travel in the 60s. For the NASA mission in space the Space Compax belonged beside the later winner Omega Speedmaster to the narrow selection, whereby the NASA opted for the Omega.

The MK2 version offered here has a black dial with black sub-dials. In contrast, the first dial generation has white sub-dials and a large number at 12 o'clock.

The preserved condition of this watch is remarkable. The sharp, unpolished case and the perfect dial leave nothing to be desired. The original tritium lume is everywhere completely intact and its color is matching in the hands and hour indices.

The serial and reference number are still deeply engraved on the case back and clearly legible. This tells us that the watch was not polished or polished very rarely. This criterion is very important for vintage collectors and makes the watch more valuable and collectable. The asymmetrical case has retained its original, thick profile with sharp edges.

The rubber pushers of this chronograph are very vulnerable. Thus they are damaged or even gone on most Vintage Space Compax watches. This Space Compax still has its original rubber pushers, which are perfectly intact.

The rotating bezel has been beautifully preserved and has no scratches. The tritium point at 12 o'clock is intact.

The movement of this watch is the famous and coveted Valjoux 72 (Universal Genève 85) and runs flawlessly.

The beautiful and rare Gay-Frères bracelet has been well preserved. The clasp is stamped 3/67 (3rd quarter 1967) and signed on the outside with the UG logo.

This Universal Genève Space Compax combines mechanical excellence and modern design. Because of its excellent condition this watch is undoubtedly a valuable collector's item.
