Description
This unusual Chronograph from Record Genève dates from the 1970s. The Record Watch Company is a Swiss watch manufacturer that was founded in Tramelan in 1903. In the 1930s and 40s, the Record watches enjoyed a reputation as a highly precise and robust timepieces. Even the German and British armed forces were equipped with tool watches made by Record. In 1961 Longines bought the Record Watch Company. Some watch models from this period have the double inscription "Longines-Record" on the dial. The in-house Record calibers were used in Longines watches. In 1991, the production of Record watches finally stopped.

Here we offer you a rare Record-Genève chronograph from the 1970s. It is reported that this model was a prototype and therefore only a few pieces were produced. Less than a handful of specimens are known today.

The stainless steel case of this Record chronograph is identical to the case of the Omega Speedmaster, which was designed by the famous designer Huguenin Frères. Beautiful twisted lugs preserved their original profile and sharp lines. The large 42mm diameter ensures a dominant and striking look on the wrist.

The dial has an eye-catching design with lots of cool details. The subdial with the small second is at 9 o'clock. The chronograph minute counter at 3 o'clock has a red and blue marking for the first 10 minutes and an arrow-shaped black hand. The central chrono hand is red and has a triangular tip with tritium. Hour and minute hands as well as the hour marker contain tritium lume, which has remained original and intact in all elements. The date is at 6 o'clock. The wide silver tachymeter scale allows the measurement of speed up to 500 hour units.

The bezel can be rotated in both directions and has a completely intact black insert. The engraving of the serial number 2408 has remained intact on the case back, which is another sign of an unpolished case. The movement of this Record Watch is the manual caliber Valjoux 7734, which has been recently serviced and provides accurate timekeeping. The chronograph start, stops and resets perfectly.

This Record Genève Chronograph is an ultra-rare wristwatch from a well-known Swiss manufacturer. The size of the case, the attractive dial design and the excellent condition are making this vintage watch so interesting to collectors.
