Here you see the very first execution of the legendary pilot watch Breitling Navitimer 806. The hallmark of this super rare chronograph is the black dial with black sub-dials. Hence the name - All Black.
This particular watch is undoubtedly one of the best Breitling Navitimer All Black that still exist today. NOS (New Old Stock) refers to vintage watches from the 1950s to 1970s that have never been worn and stayed in safe. This Breitling was only a few times on the wrist, but still features a mint condition. Therefore we describe the condition of that Navitimer as "like NOS". The pictures best describe the condition of this wristwatch.
The black dial has remained pristine and untouched. The hour numerals represent a special highlight. Their original radium lume has aged evenly and developed a beautiful dark green color. The correct hand set also has the matching lume color. The originality of the lume material radium could be verified by a Geiger counter. Another important attribute of this example is the crisp and flawless Navitimer logo at 6 o'clock. With many 1950s Navitimers the logo is worn-out and not intact. The AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association) emblem (the typical two-winged logo) is attached at 12 o'clock.
The condition of the stainless steel case is as good as it could only be. The original shape has been preserved to this day. All lines and edges are clearly defined. The case back has deep engravings. All of this speaks for an unpolished case. This watch is powered by the Venus 178 manual-wound caliber. The movement is signed with the import code "WOG", which stands for the retailer "Wakmann Watch Co. Inc., Breitling". The winding crown is signed with the "B" by Breitling. The watch runs flawlessly and ensures accurate time keeping. The chronograph starts, stopps and resets perfectly.
Given the age of 60 years, the overall condition of this Breitling Navitimer 806 is pretty impressive. It is a high quality addition to any vintage collection.
