Description
This charismatic Girard-Perregaux Compressor Diver is a diving watch from the 1970s with an extravagant case and dial design.

Girard-Perregaux was founded in 1852 and is one of the oldest Swiss watch manufacturers with its headquarter in La Chaux-de-Fonds. Since the beginning of its existence, the company has been working on the development of the mechanical precision watches. Throughout its long history, Girard-Perregaux has presented several watchmaking innovations that have won multiple awards. The company currently holds more than 100 patents.

An important milestone in the history of the company is the automatic wristwatch with a Gyromatic movement, which was introduced in 1957 and was continuously developed in the following years. In 1966, Girard-Perregaux presented the improved Gyromatic high-frequency movement with 36,000 vibrations per hour. The wristwatch offered here is also powered by the HF Gyromatic movement.

This Girard-Perregaux diving watch is the epitome of the 1970s. It was a colorful era with bold watch designs that represented the pursuit of freedom. This watch has a large 43 mm compressor case and an extravagant dial design. The inner bezel can be rotated with the crown at 2 o'clock. The dial has black, silver and orange accents. The original lume material is tritium and has a nice creamy color. Back then, such wristwatches were reliable tools that were meant to be worn. As a result, well-preserved specimens are difficult to find today. This makes this perfectly preserved Girard-Perregaux a dream of many collectors. Great thick case, absolutely flawless dial, original lume und accurate time keeping make this vintage piece very collectable.

The watch is equipped with the high quality Gyromatic HF (high frequency) caliber 441-295. This movement has the hacking function: if you pull out the winding crown at 4 o'clock to set the time, the second hand stops. This means that the time can be set to the exact second. The movement has been checked and runs absolutely perfectly providing an accurate time keeping. Both crowns are signed with the GP logo.

This Girard-Perregaux Compressor Diver satisfies not only aesthetically but also technically. It is a rare vintage collector's watch from a brand that we believe is still highly undervalued.
