This vintage chronograph Eberhard Contodat Ref. 14900 represents elegance and aesthetics in a special way. An italian Eberhard & Co. catalog from the 1960s hits the nail on the head: "Per l'uomo di classe, l'orologio fuori classe". That means "A top-class watch for a man with class." (see pictures).
From a technical point of view, Eberhard Contodat offers a rare complication especially for a watch of this era: the quickset date. The date at 6 o'clock can be promptly adjusted with the small pusher, which is integrated into the case at 9 o'clock. The in-house caliber movement 310-82 was the first chronograph movement with this helpful complication.
The silver dial has light patina dots, created by the natural aging, giving the watch an honest vintage look. A tasteful and cool element is the roulette date disk with alternating black and red display. Other striking features of this old chronograph are the stainless steel Dauphine hands and the rectangular shape of the chrono pushers, which was common in old chronographs. The blue Tachymeter scale is attached to the outer of the dial. The crown is signed with the Eberhard logo.
The stainless steel case is in an authentic, very well-preserved condition. The engravings of the reference number on the case back are still deep. This Condodat has a large diameter of 38mm. Due to the thin steel bezel, the watch appears even bigger and impressive on the wrist.
And last but not least, this Eberhard Contodat is accompanied by a beautiful vintage stainless steel bracelet. With the slider, which is integrated in the clasp, the bracelet size can be adjusted very easily. The bracelet is very comfortable to wear and is a perfect complement to this vintage chronograph.
This Eberhard Contodat is over 50 years old. But this watch also satisfies today's generation of watch lovers thanks to its large diameter and timeless, elegant design. Due to the quickly adjustable date, the watch is very practical to use.
