This Certina DS 5801-113 is a vintage diving watch from the 1960s. The peculiarities of this wristwatch are the unique design, the excellent condition and the original Gay-Frères stainless steel bracelet.
The name of the Swiss watch brand "Certina" is based on the Latin word "certus", which means "safe". The model name DS stands for "double safety". The first Certina DS was developed in 1959. The newly released watch offered high shock resistance and water resistance up to 20 bar (200 meters). Because of their durability and reliability under extreme conditions, the Certina watches were used in deep-sea research and in mountain climbing.
Here we offer you the reference 5801-113 from 1965. The black cross dial has radially attached hour numerals. Both the hour markers and the large steel hands contain original tritium lume. As usual for a diving watch, the Certina DS features a rotating bezel. It has hardly any scratches and is beautifully preserved. There is a date window at 3 o'clock. The winding crown is signed with the Certina logo.
The stainless steel case has elegant lugs, hardly any signs of wear and a thick profile. The typical Certina turtle logo can be seen on the case back. The movement is the automatic caliber 25-651 made by Certina. All functions have been checked and are in perfect working order.
This Certina wristwatch is accompanied by an original and extremely rare Gay-Frères bracelet. The clasp bears the Certina logo and the date stamp 3/65 (third quarter 1965).
