The mid-20th century is considered the golden era of Longines. And this vintage chronograph comes from exactly that period. Many experts refer to the manual-wound caliber 30CH as one of the best chronograph movements of all time.
There were different versions of the Longines 6474 chronograph. Here you see the reference 6474-5 with a tachymeter or telemeter dial. A unique highlight is the beautiful patina, which reflects the natural aging of the original dial and gives the watch an honest vintage character. The radium lume is original and has never been restored or recolored. The Geiger counter proves the existence of radium in the dial (see pictures). The hands have a metallic blue border.
The stainless steel case has a diameter of 39mm. Thanks to the beautiful step bezel, the watch looks big and very elegant on the wrist. The lugs are sharp and the case profile is thick. The winding crown is marked with the Longines logo. Technically, the chronograph is a first-class piece. The sought-after 30CH chronograph movement has a flyback complication: the chronograph can be restarted immediately with the lower pusher. The movement works absolutely perfect.
This 63-year-old Longines chronograph is one of the rarest and most sought-after vintage collector's watches. The present specimen inspires due to its excellent condition and 100% originality.
