Rolex GMT Master II 16718 Punched Papers

Here we offer you a yellow gold Rolex GMT Master II 16718 from 1992. The watch is accompanied by original punched papers. This GMT Master was hardly worn and still has the green Rolex hologram on its case back.

The reference 16718 is the gold version of the most famous travel watch in the world: Rolex GMT Master. References 16710 (stainless steel) and 16718 (yellow gold) were first introduced in 1989. They were the first GMTs with a sapphire crystal. Furthermore, this reference was equipped with the new calibre 3185.

This Rolex GMT Master 16718 is accompanied by the original chronometer certificate, which makes it an absolutely first-class collector's watch. The certificate is punched with the country code 036 (Liechtenstein) and with the serial number N224xxx. The watch was sold in August 1992 in Vaduz, Liechtenstein by the jeweler "Huber".

This GMT Master comes with two dials: a "SWISS MADE" and a "SWISS - T<25" dial. Until the end of the 1990s, Rolex used tritium as the luminous material. The inscription "SWISS - T<25" at the bottom of the dial documents that it is a watch that was produced in Switzerland and that the tritium used has a radiation value of less than 25 millicuries. After Rolex switched from Tritium to Luminova in around 1998, the dials were signed with "SWISS MADE". Since our GMT dates from 1992, the dial with "SWISS - T<25" is correct for this watch. And you get this dial in addition to the "SWISS MADE" dial. As the pictures show, both dials are excellently preserved and have no flaws or spots.

The green Rolex hologram on the case back of this GMT-Master 16718 indicates that this watch was rarely worn on the wrist. This is also indicated by the sharp lugs of the gold case and the deep hallmarks on the back of the case. The rotating bezel also has sharp teeth and is preserved greatly.

Another special feature of this GMT Master is the original riveted gold bracelet, which has the code "R" in the clasp and thus fits the watch production year perfectly. These massive gold bracelets are extremely rare. In addition, the present bracelet is superbly preserved and shows only a few signs of wear. The bracelet reference number is 7206.

The heart of this Rolex GMT is the caliber 3185. This movement has been equipped with an hour hand that can be turned independently of the minute and GMT hand. This complication allows quick date switching and showing time in two different time zones simulteneously. This caliber also has a hacking second feature. The second hand stops when the time is set, which makes it possible to set the time exactly to the second. Caliber 3185 is one of the most reliable movements in the watch industry. And the movement of this particular GMT Master works absolutely flawless and accurate.
