SoldIn general, we can say that tropical dials are much rarer on vintage Heuer watches than on vintage watches from other brands. This phenomenon is mostly observed in automatic Autavias with a five-digit reference number such as the Autavia 11630 offered here.
The originally black dial of this 50-year-old chronograph developed a brown-burgundy patina. The tropical dial reflects the long life of this Heuer Autavia and gives the watch its personal vintage character. The original tritium lume shows a natural dark patina. The fresh orange accents also contribute to the attractive appearance of this vintage chronograph. The sub-dials are dark gray and the date window is at 6 o'clock.
The stainless steel case has a large diameter of 42mm and is well proportioned thanks to its cushion shape. The case is in great condition and shows intact sunburst finish and sharp edges. The black bezel inlay is also in great condition. The bezel is rotatable and shows hour and minute markings, which is why the full reference is 11630MH.
The Autavia is powered by the automatic caliber 12, which has been overhauled and operates perfectly. An original vintage Gay-Frères stainless steel bracelet from 1971 accompanies the watch. These bracelets are extremely rare. The folding clasp bears the Heuer logo on the outside and is stamped 4/71 (fourth quarter 1971) on the inside. The bracelet is lightweight and sits very comfortably on the wrist.
This rare Heuer Autavia 11630 offers the well-known robustness of the Vintage Heuer Autavia and a unique look due to its tropical dial.
