SoldThe history of Heuer watches goes back to 1860. In 1882 Edouard Heuer patented his first chronograph. In 1920 Heuer was chosen as the official watch brand for the Olympic Games in Antwerp.
In the 1940s, the military was one of the most important target groups for Heuer chronographs. The Pre-Carrera offered here was also designed for military use. The two most important properties of a military watch were precision and readability. The precision of this chronograph is based on the legendary Valjoux 72 caliber, which to this day operates perfectly keeping very precisely time. A large screw-down stainless steel case and a black dial with large Arabic numerals ensure good readability.
The dial is a true vintage dream. Due to natural aging, the black surface developed an absolutely even patina. The luminous material is radium, which can be detected with a Geiger counter. The radium acquired a light greenish hue and is evenly aged in the hour numerals and hands. The gilt lettering on the dial gives the watch a very warm look. The large 38mm diameter of the case is very popular with collectors today. The lugs are sharp and have slight signs of wear. The lugs have sharp edges and slight signs of wear.
