Description
A Heuer Siffert Autavia is already a rare and historically important watch model. But the present example stands out thanks to the original and extremely rare accessories.

With Rolex watches, for example, signed papers are considered valuable, but it is not something really special. With old Heuer watches it is. In the 1970s, they weren't classic collector's items, but primarily useful tools. Most of the Heuer papers were unsigned blank papers, which is why the buyer seldom kept them in his safe. This Autavia comes with the original service guarantee, which is labeled with the watch's serial number. In addition, the Autavia is accompanied by the original red Heuer box. In the world of Heuer vintage watches, this is an extremely unusual set with a high collector's value.

This vintage chronograph owes its nickname "Siffert Autavia" to its famous wearer, Formula 1 world champion Jo Siffert. The racing chronograph dates from the early 1970s and has the unmistakable black and white panda dial with the date at 6 o'clock. It is the MK6 dial version with blue accents in the hands and hour markers. There is a 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock and a 12-hour totalizer at 9 o'clock. The black bezel can be rotated in both directions and shows a white tachymeter scale.

The condition of this 50-year-old vintage chronograph will also bring joy to any vintage lover. The dial including the sub-dials is absolutely flawless. The luminous material in each hour marker is original and intact. The black bezel is scratch-free. The pillow-shaped stainless steel case has been superbly preserved and still has its original profile with bevelled lugs and intact sunburst finish. The numbers between the lugs are sharp and clearly legible. The automatic Heuer caliber 12 works perfectly in all functions.

Last but not least, this Heuer Autavia 1163 is accompanied by a classic beads of rice Gay-Frères bracelet. These original vintage bracelets are extremely rare and in demand. The clasp is stamped 4/71, the end pieces have the reference HLF. The bracelet is very light and comfortable to wear on the wrist.

This Heuer Siffert is not only a proud representative of the golden motorsport era of the 1970s. Due to the extraordinary accessories, the excellent condition and the historical importance, this chronograph offers all the criteria of a vintage watch worth collecting.
