Tudor Oysterdate 79180 Big Block Full Set

SoldIn 1989 Tudor introduced two new references of the Oysterdate Chronograph. The reference 79160 had a black Bakelite bezel and the reference 79180 a steel bezel. There were also different dial designs: white sub-registers on black dial and black sub-registers on white dial.
This particular Tudor Oysterdate was produced in 1994 and sold in 1995. The original Tudor warranty from 1995 confirms the serial number of the watch, the date of sale 19th August 1995 and even the black dial color, which is quite rare. The watch is also accompanied by a hangtag signed with the watch's serial number, a leather card holder and a Tudor presentation box.
This Tudor chronograph impresses with its excellent condition. The beautiful black dial with white sub-registers is absolutely flawless. Every single tritium dot is original and intact. The stainless steel case is unpolished and shows razor-sharp lugs. The numbers between the lugs are clearly legible. The stainless steel bracelet is also in great condition and has its full length. The bracelet reference is 78360. The folding buckle is marked with the Tudor logo on the outside. The inside clasp code is R4.
This Tudor Oysterdate is powered by the automatic caliber Valjoux 7750. The case of the new Tudor models with the references 79160 and 79180 had to be built thicker to accommodate the automatic movement and the rotor. That is the reason why this watch is nicknamed "Big Block". The Valjoux 7755 caliber has been produced almost unchanged to this day, making it probably the most successful automatic chronograph movement of all time. It is known for its accuracy and robustness and is therefore very popular with collectors. The chronograph features a small second, a 30-minute counter, a 12-hour totalizer and a date with a quickset function that allows the date to be set with just a few turns of the crown.
