If you are looking for exceptional calendar watches, then this Harvel Date-O-Graph should definitely attract your attention.
The Harvel Watch Co. was founded in 1933 on New York's 5th Avenue. The movements came from the Swiss movement manufacturer FHF (Fabrique d'Horlogerie de Fontainemelon). The movement bridges are therefore engraved with the US import codes HXH or HXN.
This calendar watch has some interesting design details. The month is displayed in a trapezoidal window using two letters. The only two months displayed with three letters are May and July. The month can be set immediately using the crown at 10 o'clock, which can be turned to both sides. When pulled out, this crown is used to rotate the bright date disk to set the date.
Another special feature of this Harvel Date-O-Graph is the black weekday ring. Most days of the week are marked with one or two letters, with the exception of Sunday, that is marked with a cross symbol.
What sets this watch apart from all other Harvel Date-O-Graphs is the unique patina of the dial. The colors range from yellow to brown to caramel.
The case design of this Harvel watch is also special, as it comes from Piquerez - a case manufacturer known for the high-quality and precise workmanship of its stainless steel cases - especially the Super Compressor case. This Harvel has a 36mm case with beveled lugs that look very stylish and delicate. Further evidence of the fine craftsmanship of this Piquerez case are the subtle U-shaped cuts on the screw-down case back for placing the opening tool. Inside the case back you can see the engraving "RUSTLESS STEEL", which was used before the term "STAINLESS STEEL" was established.
