Description
This exceptional vintage Heuer 2547 dates back to the 1940s and is both a calendar watch and a chronograph.

It is not only the rare combination of calendar and chronograph that makes the reference 2547 so coveted by collectors, but also its waterproof case. While most models had a snap-on case back, the reference 2547 was the only one in the range of Heuer calendar watches with a screw-down case back and was therefore considered water-resistant. It was also equipped with round instead of rectangular pushers, which also made it water-resistant.

Reference 2547 is an extremely rare timepiece, especially in good condition. A special feature of this watch is its double-signed dial. In addition to the HEUER logo, the dial is also signed with the name of the official retailer “Baylor”. Baylor Watch Co. had a strong presence in North and South America from the 1950s until the 1970s. Heuer distributed some of its watches through Baylor and therefore printed “BAYLOR” on some of the dials.

The next special feature of this watch is the Portuguese day of the week display. In Portuguese, the days of the week are counted through except Sunday, with Monday being the second day and Saturday the seventh. The day of the week disk on this watch therefore has the numbers 2 to 7 (Monday to Saturday) and “DOM” for domingo (Sunday).

The dial of this 80-year-old timepiece has a natural, unique and irreproducible patina. Thanks to the large 38 mm stainless steel case, this watch offers plenty of presence on the wrist. The blue hand with the triangular tip shows the date on the blue date scale. The day of the week and the month are displayed in the two apertures at 12 o'clock. The calendar functions can be set using small pushers on the left-hand side of the case. The large sub-dials and the Dauphine hands are responsible for the striking appearance.

The chronograph is powered by the reliable manual-wound Valjoux 72C caliber. C stands for calendar. This iconic movement can also be found in Rolex calendar watches from this period.

This Heuer 2547 is a first-class collector's watch due to its historical value, distinctive design, mechanical complexity and condition.
