Description
Vintage first-owner watches are very rare today, which is why we are pleased to be able to offer this 1970s Breitling from its first ownership with box, papers and steel bracelet. The large 47mm Breitling Cosmonaute 1809 is a special pilot's watch with a complicated 24-hour dial. With the help of its scales and rotating bezel, necessary calculations could be made for flight planning and navigation.

We love the striking 70s design of this Breitling. Whether it's the flashy orange hands, large tritium numerals or case size, everything is a testament to the bold design elements of the 1970s.

The first owner acquired this beautiful piece in June 1978 and kept the watch in his possession until recently. The original box, papers and manual are available. The watch also comes with its original stainless steel bracelet. An exceptional collector's watch that is a joy to wear.

The chronograph is powered by caliber 14, which is based on legendary calibers 11 and 12, with the difference that the hand only moves around the dial once every 24 hours.

About Breitling Cosmonaute
Breitling introduced its first chronographs powered by mechanical manual-wound movements back in the 1950s. From then until today, Breitling has been one of the leading manufacturers of high-quality chronographs. In 1969, in collaboration with Buren and Heuer, Breitling developed the first self-winding mechanical chronograph movement - the Caliber 11. A unique feature of these movements is the position of the winding crown on the left side of the case. The new Breitling models equipped with these automatic movements were given the name CHRONOMATIC. Inspired by the trend of the 1970s, the new chronographs had large cases and colorful, striking dials.
