One motto has defined Piaget's creative identity - and the history of the Maison to this day: "Do what has never been done before". With this legendary call to action, Valentin Piaget inspired his designers to pursue bold innovation and radical elegance.
The timepiece presented here, dating from the 1970s, is much more than just a watch - it is an explosive manifestation of this philosophy, and without a doubt one of Piaget's most iconic creations, one that defined an entire era of luxury and extravagance.
Known for their large, stepped rectangular cases, the Rectangle à l'Ancienne models once attracted the attention of some of the greatest stars and style icons of their time. With its striking dimensions of 41 x 33 mm and its boldly sculpted architecture, this piece is not only a technical and aesthetic marvel, but also a shining testimony to a time when Piaget blurred the boundaries between watchmaking and haute joaillerie.
While reference 14101 from the same period is occasionally seen, this 14105, with its white gold case and dial set with diamonds, breaks all conventions. The stunning diamond pavé dial is further enhanced by eight deep blue sapphires at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock.
This masterpiece is powered by the legendary Beta-21 caliber, one of the world's first quartz movements, developed as part of the Centre Electronique Horloger (CEH) - a joint venture that included Piaget, Rolex, Patek Philippe and other major Swiss houses. It was a milestone that combined revolutionary quartz precision with the uncompromising excellence of Swiss watchmaking.
Very few examples of Piaget 14105s were ever produced - and this one is in exceptional original condition, presented in its original Piaget box.
A jewel of watchmaking history. A design statement on the wrist.
